FAQ's

Can I get in touch with the person in my room?

To protect the young people we work with, we can't give out personal details, but we'd love you to send messages to young people through our website.

Where is my room?

Centrepoint supports over 1,000 young people aged 16-25 every year and provides accommodation in over 32 different services in and around London and in North East England. The room you help to support is in one of them. To protect the privacy of the young person who is staying there, we're afraid we can't tell you the exact location of our Centrepoint rooms.

What is the is true cost of providing a room?

It costs around £12 per day, but the amount we ask for, is an amount donors can afford.

Am I the only person sponsoring a room?

If we only allowed one person to sponsor each room, we would have to set the price of room sponsorship much higher. So we allow several people to sponsor each room.

What does my sponsorship cover?

As well as paying for the basic costs of the room, such as heating, lighting, bedding and hot water, you are also helping to pay for the range of support services we offer to every young person who stays with us. From the minute they move into the room, you help sponsor, we work with them to get their lives back on track. Your regular gift will be used to assist young people in sponsored rooms and for the general purposes of Centrepoint.

As a Centrepoint Room Sponsor, can I have direct contact with a homeless young person?

It is not possible to have direct contact with a homeless young person. To protect the young people we work with, we can't give out personal details, but we'd love you to send messages to young people through our website.

Young people move in and out of Centrepoint hostels daily. Some will stay for just a few days when they are in crisis. Others will stay for up to two years, and we may even support them when they are living independently. Because of the sheer range of work we do with young people, it makes much more sense to offer people like you the chance to sponsor a room. Rest assured that while you are sponsoring that room, you will make a real and lasting difference to the lives of many young people.

Are these young people real?

Yes. By sponsoring a room you are helping real young people who are living at Centrepoint. However the protection of the young people we work with is paramount. So the identities of the young people featured on this website have been changed and their photographs are posed by models. However, their stories are true. There's no exaggeration and no other details have been changed.

What happens if I cannot continue my Centrepoint Room Sponsorship?

If your circumstances change and you can no longer continue as a Centrepoint Room Sponsor, please call our donation line on 0800 23 23 20 to let us know. And don't worry, there are other ways to support us to help homeless young people. Likewise, you can reinstate your Centrepoint Room Sponsorship at any time.
